This morning I woke up and did a load of dishes. Yesterday I cleaned up the kitchen a bit, weeded the garden, and hemmed devnill's pants. I've never hemmed anything before so devnill had to teach me. He says he doesn't like doing it but I thought it was fun.
About a week ago I installed Debian on my laptop because I was tired of Arch.
I'm washing the comforters and sheets today. After that I'm just gonna wash all the clothes in the house. And fold them, and put them someplace.
Considering putting a skirt on o: gasp

Nice!!! Devnill keeps all of his clean and dirty clothes in hampers so a lot of the time it's hard to tell what is what... I should just hang it up for him
haha

i keep having to wash the sheets because me and my man make such a mess with all the sex juices, every night and some mornings. once it soaked through to the mattress underneath, and i just CAN'T get it out! I put down a plastic sheet but it crinkles and makes horrible noises, and i hate it!!
also i love quinoa, natures healthy grain
i wish it hadn't suddenly got popular, now it's like, $9/pound. it used to be horse feed cheap.
Today I was riding my longboard around the neighborhood to get some fresh air. I like looking at everyone's yards, I think it says a lot about who lives there. Anyway, I'm riding around and I see these giant beautiful purple flowers so I stop to take a minute to appreciate the garden.

Then I notice there's one of those little "Free Library" boxes so I take a peak...

Nothing super interesting, but by the time I was done perusing all the books I was greeted by an older / middle-aged woman and her dog, Ginger.
We talk for a few minutes about plants and gardening and stuff and she even told me the name of those beautiful flowers: Purple Delphinium!
So the moral of the story is look for people with nice gardens and maybe you'll get to meet some nice neighbors.
that's a great story. and i love neighborhoods with lots of nice plants to look at! and people who are friendly about it!
unfortunately if i am judged by the state of my yard, i'm a piece of garbage. i'll take a picture in the morning, but it's.. odd.
Get together with the neighbors!

this morning i held hands wit my husbando
Today I was working in the garden and met one of my neighbors from down the street! I was using some cut branches to help make the front yard garden a bit shadier; it's been so hot the past couple weeks that a bunch of plants are wilting, especially the basil. My neighbor was walking by and said he liked my flowers and the hugel. I explained how it works with decomposing logs and we introduced ourselves.

idk if you know this but "keep em barefoot and pregnant" is a saying wrt horses (and occasionally women :X) the thought is to keep horses unshod (so their hoofs don't split, I think) and, you guessed it, pregnant!
not sure how widespread it is but i heard it A LOT growing up! anyway Katie is barefoot and pregnant! good job katie!

I've always heard "barefoot, pregnant, and in the kitchen" but I don't know many people that raise horses.
Apparently there's a whole wikipedia article about it!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barefoot_and_pregnant
QuoteThe phrase "barefoot and pregnant" seems to have been introduced in the early twentieth century by Arthur E. Hertzler, the Horse-and-Buggy Doctor from Kansas: "'The only way to keep a woman happy,' he said, 'is to keep her barefoot and pregnant.'"
QuoteThe variation "barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen" has been associated with the phrase "Kinder, K?che, Kirche" (translated "children, kitchen, church"), used under the German Empire to describe a woman's role in society.
Oh gosh the feminist "negative connotations" section is super cringe.
i already never used it but now i'm not going to use it, twice as hard.

idk if you read much bible in your Becoming A Christly Wife but proverbs 31 describes the ideal wife. She's smart, strong, a good manager, kind to the poor, and her children love her. "A proverbs 31 woman" is a christian meme, has been for years.
Basically, a Bad Bitch.

In Denmark they have preschools and kindergartens where kids get to play around in forests.
Personally, I grew up in a forest and think it's made a great impact on my life!!

I miss falling out of trees, and fucking trees, and other shit. I can climb trees now, but it brings me no joy.
At the house where I spent the first six years of my life, there were about a dozen trees with curved flower pods that are *delicious*, and you can eat them. I thought they were honey locust or sweet locust but the pictures I googled up, don't match. So I have no idea what kind of tree they are. Also the bark was these big thick wrinkles that is perfect for grabbing onto. Great trees.

A meta-analysis from 2016 concludes that spanking has very few positive outcomes, if any. Side effects of spanking include: children not respecting parents, self-esteem issues, and the development of asocial behavior lasting through adulthood. The analysis also showed that spanking causes these side effects even in cases where parents do not physically abuse their children in any other way.

Spanking children to correct misbehavior is a widespread practice, yet one shrouded in debate about its effectiveness and even its appropriateness. The meta-analyses presented here found no evidence that spanking is associated with improved child behavior and rather found spanking to be associated with increased risk of 13 detrimental outcomes. These analyses did not find any support for the contentions that spanking is only associated with detrimental outcomes when it is combined with abusive methods or that spanking is only associated with such outcomes in methodologically weak studies. Across study designs, countries, and age groups, spanking has been linked with detrimental outcomes for children, a fact supported by several key methodologically strong studies that isolate the ability of spanking to predict child outcomes over time. Although the magnitude of the observed associations may be small, when extrapolated to the population in which 80% of children are being spanked, such small effects can translate into large societal impacts. Parents who use spanking, practitioners who recommend it, and policymakers who allow it might reconsider doing so given that there is no evidence that spanking does any good for children and all evidence points to the risk of it doing harm.
