I have so many questions about all of this.  Were they allowed to move whatever obscured exits and entrances on religious days? What did they do for lighting? did they set up chains of those special shabbat lights? My friend lives in a very jewish part of Brooklyn and has a lot of frustrations with it but he's out of town, he doesn't even know the likelihood of there having been a tunnel under his building.  How much of NY has been structurally compromised ?
