I took a hit of DMT yesterday, and as I set down the pipe and lay back the thought struck me that enormous amounts of DMT are released as we die. The wave of odd-body-pressure hit me, and I wondered whether that same feeling would characterize one's last moments of consciousness after some horrible injury. As the closed-eye visuals started to play, I couldn't help but wonder whether my last Earthly moments would be spent hallucinating until gradual nonexistence overtook me. The feeling of resignation to my own fragility and mortality, combined with significant sadness at the thought that I would one day die, lasted the rest of the day.
