why do they hate it so much?

cats have a stronger sense of smell than humans, so it's basically just owners being mean to their cats sadly.

Where I work, we thought there was a gas leak, and some people evacuated the building.  Turns out someone got durian cookies in the mail and was eating them at their desk in our open-concept-as-fuck office... so the smell spread out over the entire office floor (one room that's half a city block).

but this is a cat thread not a durian thread.
