Yeah, I've seen the Beirut explosion compared to Akira a lot (in nerdy places) which is why I used the same example. The animators did their research, and it shows.

Speaking of Japanese things, yesterday was the 75th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima.



"Little Boy" was ~13-15kT. The Beirut explosion is being estimated at a little over one kT.

And today, the 75th anniversy of the bombing of Nagasaki.



"Fat Man" was ~21kT, though did less damage to Nagasaki overall because the city is within a valley, and the hills absorbed a lot of the physical blast energy.
