when you have "full participation" what happens is whoever is loudest or has the most time to waste, ends up making all the rules and ruining everything for everyone else

I'm not sure dictatorship is directly related to authoritarian rulership.  You could be a dictator that makes no rules, or enforces them very rarely.  You could have a democracy that has strict rules for everything.

I mean, it's a strawman argument (this is Shitpost Central after all), but people tend to not like being controlled by others.  So what's the point of society if it doesn't make people happy?  (to answer my own question, perhaps an authoritarian society can do a better job at making more people happy than a non-authoritarian one.)
